In response to the call of UPLB for food assistance to stranded students in dormitories due to the enhanced community quarantine, IAS heed the call by donating 15 trays (450 pieces) of table eggs, 40 kilos of pork, and 10 kilos of assorted processed meat products last March 18 to 20 and March 27. Meanwhile, as a support to the medical frontliners at the University Health Service, IAS donated 10 kilos of pork and 7 kilos of processed meat products last April 13.
In a separate occasion, in support to the relief operations of Barangay Tuntungin-Putho, IAS also donated last April 20 the following: 640 kilos of pork from the swine herd of private companies such as UNAHCO, Philchema Inc., and New Gen Marketing Inc., IAS industry partners and current research collaborators; 150 heads (2 kilos each) of live broiler chickens and 71 heads of live culled chicken layers from the IAS poultry herd. Ninety trays (2,700 pieces) of eggs were also donated to the said barangay on a staggered scheme (5 trays/day) from March 21 to April 3. The donation was coursed through the Office of Barangay Captain Ronaldo N. Oñate.
Said donation was made possible through Dr. Rommel C. Sulabo, professor and IAS director, Dr. Noel B. Lumbo, assistant professor, University Animal Farm (UAF) poultry farm manager, and farm veterinarian, Dr. Cristy M. Bueno, assistant professor and project leader, IAS meat processing project, and Mr. Jose Alberto A. Nuez III, UAF farm superintendent.
