The IAS conducted a short internship program coordinated by the UPLB Office of Institutional Linkages (OIL) for two Thai students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Ubon Ratchachani University, Thailand last May 15 to June 4. The two interns were Nuannet Premtha and Wathanyu Saraphan, both BS Agriculture sophomore students who plan to pursue animal science as their major field of specialization.

The following activities were undertaken by the students with the assistance of selected IAS faculty and staff: lecture on basic concepts in Animal Science (May 15-17) by Dr. Lumbo, assistant professor; internship at the Advanced Animal Science Research and Training Laboratory (May 20-24) by Victoria Eden S. Walitang, university researcher, and Leodegario M. Umali, laboratory technician; internship at the University Animal Farm (May 27-31) by Dr. Lumbo, Profs. Jorge Michael Dominguez and Julie Rose Datuin; and cultural trip (June 3) by Kamla Zyra G. Lavadia, university researcher, and Christian Dimapilis, project development officer of OIL.

A closing/send-off ceremony was held last June 3 at the IAS Conference Room where certificates of completion were given to the interns. It was attended by Dr. Sulabo, director; Dr. Adiova, deputy director; and Dr. Simplicio A. Medina, OIL director. With the learnings they got from the institute and UPLB as well, and the camaraderie they had with IAS faculty, staff, and students, the interns happily departed for Thailand last June 4.
