The College of Agriculture and Food Science Inter-unit Sportsfest 2019 successfully opened last 6 February at the UPLB Grandstand.
To formally commence the three-day event, Dr. Amado A. Angeles, Unit Host Chair, emphasized the importance of developing the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship among CAFS friends and family.
About 300 faculty and staff from the different academic and research institutes at CAFS attended the opening ceremony, with Mr. and Ms. Sportsfest as highlight of the program.
Under the morning heat, CAFS family blissfully joined Ms. Ione Sarmago of the Dairy Training and Research Institute in a ten-minute warm-up dance routine.
Four participating teams competed in 12 sports events, including athletics, basketball, softball, and board games to name a few, where Green Team composed of faculty and staff from the Institute of Plant Breeding, earned the most number of medals.
Dr. Elpidio M. Agbisit, Jr., Dean of CAFS, stressed that the event was part of the selection process as preparation for Palarong UPLB to be held in March. He also challenged all winning teams and individual to start training as he was keen on retaining the championship title which the College secured last year.
